Customer Service Week: Not Meant To Celebrate Customers

We know what you're thinking?

Who then is supposed to be celebrated? Heck! the name already gives it away.

Well, we did a little research to find out the inception of this widely celebrated event and apparently, everyone has moved away from its initial objective.

What is it, you may ask?

The International Customer Service Association started Customer Service Week in 1984 in an effort to recognize employees who deliver great service.

In 1992, President George Bush officially designated the first full week of October as National Customer Service Week and proclaimed, “A business will do a better job of providing high-quality goods and services by listening to its employees and by empowering them with opportunities to make a difference.”

It appears that many businesses are either ignorant of this truth and have just followed the bandwagon or have deliberately chosen to ignore it. Either way, we think it is important to remind everyone, particularly businesses that may not be aware and have followed the crowd, about the objective of the event which is to celebrate the people who are constantly troubleshooting, the people who keep the business afloat, the people who work 24 hours round the clockall in a bid to ensure customer satisfaction is achieved-the internal customers; the employees.

While this is a reminder to acknowledge the objective of this event, we equally encourage businesses to continue to celebrate and appreciate their customers. Both groups are very important.

Ifeoluwa's admirer❤️
Her story is inspiring. I feel motivated. She is a young girl who at a tender age knows what she wants and she is working towards becoming her dreams.

I really love the transformation that Wave is causing in the lives of the young people. Mary's experience just stands out. She is more equipped to live. This and more is what young girls especially need to compete favorably in Nigeria. Apart from the people that are in Lagos state, how can youths from other states participate in this training? How much does the training cost? Before I go, I really appreciate the leadership of West African Vocational Education. God richly bless you. Thank.
