Christiana Ubah's journey began with a summer program where she first crossed paths with WAVE. Coming from Ajegunle in Lagos state, this experience ignited a hunger within her to strive for a better life beyond her upbringing.

"Before WAVE, I went for a summer program, and it ushered me into an environment different from where I grew up. It gave me a hunger to be better from where I was coming from," Christiana reflects.

Following her training, Christiana wasted no time in seeking employment. Her ability to stand out during job interviews became a distinguishing factor in her career.

"One of the things that made me stand out was how I was able to answer the questions I was asked during the job interview. I was able to demonstrate trust to the employer," she shares.

Christiana's dedication and acquired skills enabled her to secure a job, where she not only earned her employer's trust but also excelled in managing the business effectively. The skills acquired at WAVE played an important role in her ability to upsell.

"I was also able to get the next job I got because of how I answered questions during my job interview due to the skills I learned at WAVE," Christiana emphasizes.

Commendations from both her employers and customers became a common occurrence, all attributing to the impact of WAVE training on her professional journey.

"The skills that helped me are customer service skills, my ability to make them feel heard and that their opinion matters. And till now, 10 years later, those skills are still important for me both on the job and outside the job as well," Christiana affirms.

Christiana’s story is a source of inspiration for any young person looking to develop employability skills that would prepare them adequately for the world of work

Her story is inspiring. I feel motivated. She is a young girl who at a tender age knows what she wants and she is working towards becoming her dreams.

I really love the transformation that Wave is causing in the lives of the young people. Mary's experience just stands out. She is more equipped to live. This and more is what young girls especially need to compete favorably in Nigeria. Apart from the people that are in Lagos state, how can youths from other states participate in this training? How much does the training cost? Before I go, I really appreciate the leadership of West African Vocational Education. God richly bless you. Thank.
