As a 2016 graduate of Economics from the Federal University Oye-Ekiti, Inioluwa Olatubosun was managing her hair business prior to WAVE. As she hoped to diversify her source of income, she was job-hunting online and got in-touch with WAVE on jobberman portal.

She enrolled for WAVE training program with two objectives: to get trained and offered a job afterwards. When narrating her highlight during the program, Inioluwa asserts that: “it was great, helpful because I learned a lot, most especially good customer services.”

As a sales associate and cashier, Inioluwa jobshadowed at FoodCo Nigeria, where she practised the customer service skills learned at WAVE and received positive feedback. Through hardwork and good customer service skills, Inioluwa retained the job position after the jobshadow. When talking about the skills learned at WAVE that has helped her on the job, she privileges verbal communication over teamwork and interpersonal relationship. In her exact words, “I used to be a shy person but WAVE taught me the required skills to be confident in myself. I couldn't afford to be shy during the training program. Most importantly, the verbal communication class increased my boldness.”

As she aims to work for only three years, she hopes to keep learning on the current job and open a retail store afterwards. Her pieces of advice to job seekers go thus: “do not relent, always be ready to work and attend WAVE training in order to derive your potentials.”

Her story is inspiring. I feel motivated. She is a young girl who at a tender age knows what she wants and she is working towards becoming her dreams.

I really love the transformation that Wave is causing in the lives of the young people. Mary's experience just stands out. She is more equipped to live. This and more is what young girls especially need to compete favorably in Nigeria. Apart from the people that are in Lagos state, how can youths from other states participate in this training? How much does the training cost? Before I go, I really appreciate the leadership of West African Vocational Education. God richly bless you. Thank.
