Austin Umukoro, with over five years of experience in customer service, was eager for a career transition into the IT space. Intrigued by his friend's success in the previous batch of the WAVE IT and Employability Skills Training in partnership with Digital Fortress, he decided to join the training as well.

The entire program covered both technical and soft skills, such as effective communication, emotional intelligence, and successful job search strategies. Austin attests, "The job search class was particularly valuable for me. It equipped me with essential skills for navigating the job market and securing opportunities."

Navigating the challenges of juggling life, family, and business commitments, Austin initially felt uncertain about completing the training. However, he found motivation and resilience within himself. "I was unsure if I could finish the training at some point, but I found reasons to persevere whenever I attended the sessions."

In the technical aspect of the training, the class on Graphical User Interfaces (GUI) in Python programming stood out for Austin, providing him with practical skills to connect his business ideas to the tech space. He explains, "I was able to link my business concepts with technology, opening new paths for growth and innovation."

As a complete beginner, Austin devoted substantial time to mastering Python programming to apply the skills to Data Science, the field he aims to pursue for his career.

As Austin reflects on his experience, he sums it up like this: "This training has opened doors for me. I have transitioned from customer service to data science, and now I'm creating my path in the business space. Now, I am an evangelist, sharing my experience with everyone I know."

Through training and partnerships like this, we can equip more young people with tech skills that play a role in shaping their future.

I really love the transformation that Wave is causing in the lives of the young people. Mary's experience just stands out. She is more equipped to live. This and more is what young girls especially need to compete favorably in Nigeria. Apart from the people that are in Lagos state, how can youths from other states participate in this training? How much does the training cost? Before I go, I really appreciate the leadership of West African Vocational Education. God richly bless you. Thank.
