Mary Octave got to know about WAVE through a flyer given through town storming.

WHAT WERE YOU DOING BEFORE WAVE?
I just finished school. I was searching for a job, submitting my CV's, both soft and hard copies, and waiting for interviews. I was bored and broke.

WHY DID YOU COME TO WAVE?
I came to wave because I needed a job. I was glad to geta job after the training.

WHAT WAS THE IMPACT OF THE PROGRAMME?
A whole lot, from being shy to being outspoken, WAVEhas taught me a lot on not just getting a job, but how to stay on the job.

WHAT WERE YOUR CHALLENGES AND EXCITEMENTS DURING THE TRAINING?
WAVE is one of the best places to be, everything about WAVE is interesting. The way we were being taught, the way they make you see things from the employer's perspective. It was challenging because I had to sit in class for 10hrs receivinglectures.

WHERE DO YOU CURRENTLY WORK?
I currently work at Swan Cape as a Cashier.

HOW OLD ARE YOU?.
I am 23 years old.

HOW FAR IS YOUR HOME FROM WORK?

I live at Ajah. The distance from home to my training center was one hour and in order to avoid standing all through the class, I had to wake up as early as possible.

HOW MANY JOBS HAVE YOU DONE BEFORE WAVE?
I once worked as a front desk person.

WHAT IS YOUR EDUCATIONAL QUALIFICATION?
BSC Marketing (North American University)

TELL US ABOUT YOUR JOB SHADOW
I did my job shadow at Lekki, Nectall Hug. My experience was awesome in the sense that I was able to put everything i was taught in class into use, and I was really amazed at the result. It was also an opportunity to learn practically.

WHAT SKILLS DID YOU LEARN THAT HELPED YOU AT WORK?
Office Politics - trying not to keep enemies at work, and reporting to the right person in charge i.e trying not to be too forward than your superiors. My communication skills also helped me as a front desk person.

WHAT IS YOUR DREAM JOB?
I want to be an Interior Decorator because I have liked playing with colours right from childhood. I have a passion for interior decoration because that is one of the things I look out for whenever I step into any house. Having been taught on how to be creative at WAVE, I believe it will go a long way in helping me achieve my dreams.

Ifeoluwa's admirer❤️
Her story is inspiring. I feel motivated. She is a young girl who at a tender age knows what she wants and she is working towards becoming her dreams.

I really love the transformation that Wave is causing in the lives of the young people. Mary's experience just stands out. She is more equipped to live. This and more is what young girls especially need to compete favorably in Nigeria. Apart from the people that are in Lagos state, how can youths from other states participate in this training? How much does the training cost? Before I go, I really appreciate the leadership of West African Vocational Education. God richly bless you. Thank.
